The World Food Program (WFP) is one of the most important international humanitarian organizations providing humanitarian and relief support to Yemen since 1967.

In recent years, WFP has implemented several humanitarian operations in Yemen. Since 2007, WFP had shifted from long-term operations (sustainable development) to short-term operations (emergency response) due to the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

In September 2015, WFP integrated all relief and recovery operations into one emergency operation ‘’Emergency food assistance to the food-insecure and conflict-affected people in Yemen’’ within WFP’s Emergency Response Plan for Yemen.

On 12 April 2017, WFP announced a new emergency operation in Yemen ‘’Immediate, integrated and sustainable response to avoid famine in Yemen’’ which is replacing WFP’s previous emergency operation launched by WFP on 1 October 2015 and ended on 31 March 2017.

In addition to the emergency operation, WFP has two special operations related to humanitarian air services, logistics and emergency communications to enhance coordination in support of humanitarian operations in Yemen. [More]
